Lake Monsters, Fleck Blank Pure Michigan Sunday, July 27th, 2031 The Vermont Lake Monsters shut out the Pure Michigan Great Lakers 6-0 today behind the strong pitching of Gerry Fleck. Fleck surrendered only 2 hits in recording the complete-game victory, and struck out 4. Following the last out, Fleck appeared to celebrate a little too boisterously for Pure Michigan manager Bob Thomas, who could be seen scolding the famously outspoken right-hander as the clubs left the field. Fleck's own manager then intervened with some words for his counterpart. The Great Lakers skipper would not comment on the exchange, but at the Lake Monsters press conference, Fleck confirmed that it was regarding the celebration. "He basically told me I was being a lousy winner," Fleck said. "And I told him he was being a lousy loser," Vermont manager Rick Nash added.
