Great Lakers End Degollado's Streak Saturday, July 26th, 2031 It was the best of both worlds for the Pure Michigan Great Lakers today at Monster Field, as they defeated the Vermont Lake Monsters 7-4 and also snapped Ramón Degollado's 20-game hitting streak. The 21-year-old Vermont third baseman failed to get a hit in 4 at-bats. "Nothing personal against Degollado, we just wanted to win the game," said Great Lakers skipper Bob Thomas. "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing." When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Degollado frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about it, but I'd feel much better if we had won." Degollado is hitting .361 so far this season with 41 RBIs and 35 runs scored. He has 99 hits including 1 home run, 15 walks and .399 OBP. |
