Panama City Snaps Alejándrez's Streak at 20
Wednesday, September 3rd, 2031
For 20 straight games, Jorge Alejándrez tried to ignore his hitting streak. It wasn't easy.

Well, the 24-year-old Boston Patriots third baseman can forget about it now -- it's over, courtesy of the Panama City Piranhas. The Piranhas held him hitless in 3 at-bats at The Tank today and snapped his consecutive-game hitting string at 20.

There was at least one good note to the end of the streak, however, as the Patriots took the win by the score of 4-2.

"I tried to ignore it for weeks, but you guys in the media wouldn't let me," he joked with reporters after the game. "I'm looking forward to some peace and quiet now."

Alejándrez is hitting .303 so far this season with 33 RBIs and 37 runs scored. He has 77 hits including 10 home runs, 13 walks and .347 OBP.
