|
Athletic Club KC right fielder Jesús Vargas was instrumental in his team's 4-3 win over the Rocky Mountain Nuggets. Vargas, who is tied for 3rd in the SL with a .974 OPS, went 2-4 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Athletic Club KC. The winner was César Méndez, who threw 106 pitches over 7 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 11 hits. Athletic Club KC is now 44-41, Rocky Mountain 30-55.
Vargas came through with some timely hitting for Athletic Club KC. With the score 0-0 in the bottom of the third and one down, Vargas hit a full count fastball for a 2-run home run. His 25th home run of the season made it 2-0, Athletic Club KC.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Vargas told reporters after the game.
