Late Rally by Nuggets Secures Win
|
The Grafton Middies got a superb performance from pitcher António Marés, but the Rocky Mountain Nuggets still won the game, 4-2. Marés was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball. Hunter Wilson picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-2. Kenete Daku was tagged with the loss. Tsugahara Hori notched his 12th save in 14 chances.
Rocky Mountain relied on the hitting of Luis Ríos to pick up the win. The center fielder ripped a 2-run triple in the top of the ninth inning to put the Nuggets on top, 4-2. For the game, Ríos had 1 triple and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Ríos told the Rocky Mountain Times.
With the win, Rocky Mountain has a record of 27-50. Grafton falls to 28-49.
