Red-Hot Ballard Scorches Stingers
|
Gold Sox second baseman Noel Ballard had his way with Toledo pitching today at Pacesetter Park and mauled them for 5 hits in 6 at-bats. His efforts were all in vain, though, as the Stingers ruined his great day by toppling the Gold Sox, 8-5.
"I had a great day, but you've got to give Toledo credit, they did what they had to do to win," he told reporters after the game. "They weren't very impressed with my 5 hits."
"Oh, we noticed what Ballard did today," Stingers skipper TJ Reynolds said. "He had quite a game. I can tell you this, we will pitch him a little differently the next time we face him."
Noel Ballard singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
Ballard is hitting .355 so far this season with 24 RBIs and 40 runs scored. He has 82 hits including no home runs, 40 walks and .445 OBP.
