Flamingos Clip Dutchmen in Tight Contest
|
The Las Vegas Flamingos faced a tough opponent in New Amsterdam pitcher Andrés Quezada, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Dutch Master Park by a final score of 7-1. Quezada went 7.2 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Gilberto Medina, credited with the win, is now 4-1. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. This win makes it 6 in a row for Las Vegas.
Xavier Hernández's hit in the top of the ninth was a game-changer. With no one out, he rapped a slider from Glenn Butler for a solo home run. It put Las Vegas in front, 2-1.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Hernández told the Las Vegas Chronicle.
