French, Ellenburg Start SL AAA Championship Strong with Home Win
The Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds powered past the visiting Tremont Doubledays, 18-9, in the opener of the SL AAA Championship at Dog Park in Ellenburg today. Ellenburg catcher Ryan French went 3 for 3 with 3 singles and 2 walks. He scored 4 times and drove in 2, to lead the charge. The Fighting Dachsunds now lead the series 1-0.

Tied up with the Doubledays in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Fighting Dachsunds got a boost from first baseman José Vázquez. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Vázquez saw a first pitch fastball from Jeff Bradshaw and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Ellenburg on top, 5-4.

"Nervous? No," said Vázquez. "It was my time to shine."

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at Dog Park in Ellenburg. Slated to start are Bobby Swain for the Tremont Doubledays and Gerald Bolton for the the Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds.
