Round 2032 Game 1 Victory for Gómez\n and Northern Virginia
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids moved to within one game of the Round 2033 today, downing the visiting Las Vegas Flamingos at Atlantica by a score of 6-4. Rainbow Mermaids left-hander Raúl Gómez was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball. The win gives the Rainbow Mermaids a - advantage in the best-of- Round 2032.

Tied up with the Flamingos in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Rainbow Mermaids got a boost from center fielder Ty Tomblin. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Tomblin saw a first pitch fastball from Toddster Gordo and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Northern Virginia on top, 3-2.

"We put it together today and came out with the win," Tomblin said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."

Game 2 is scheduled for tomorrow at Atlantica in Hampton. Slated to start are Germán Rodríguez for Las Vegas and Aurelio López for Northern Virginia.
