The Syracuse Storm moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the visiting Connetquot Chiefs at Storm Park by a score of 4-3. Storm right-hander Zach Pinyerrel was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 7 innings allowing 3 runs. The win gives the Storm a 3-0 advantage in the best-of-5 SL A Championship.

Had Phil Beck not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Beck hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Storm.

"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Beck told the Syracuse Herald.
