The Toledo starter rose to the occasion at Houston Grounds today, earning player of the game honors after leading the Stingers to a crucial 6-3 victory over the Houston 1837 BBC. Silva threw 7 innings allowing 3 runs as the Stingers won on the road to seize a - lead in the best-of- Silver League Championship.
Alfredo Martínez hit a 2-run triple off Prince Nakamura in the top of the seventh, which put the Stingers in front, 5-3. Martínez had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 4.
"We'll savor this win," Silva told the Toledo News, "then get ready for the next game."
