Host Cattlemen Drop Pivotal Game , Now Trail Series -
|
The importance of Game was not lost on Munemori Ohara.
In leading Brooklyn to a crucial 9-0 victory over the Ft. Worth Cattlemen at The Cattle Pen today, the Dodgers second baseman rose to the occasion. He went 4-4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once to player of the game honors as Brooklyn got a road win and seized a - lead in the best-of- Round 1.
Tied up with the Cattlemen in the top of the fifth inning, the Dodgers got a boost from shortstop Vincent Crane. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Crane saw a 1-1 fastball from Robbie Betchley and hit a 2-run double to break the stalemate and put Brooklyn on top, 2-0.
"I thought we played a nice game," Crane told the Brooklyn Chronicle. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
