Pivotal Game Goes to Host Evergreens, 2-1
|
The Portland Evergreens needed some last-minute heroics to do it, but ultimately emerged one game away from the Round 2 today. The Evergreens got the 2-1 win against the Houston 1837 BBC in a walk-off at Evergreen Park. Portland right-hander Yoo-chul Mun was named player of the game after a solid outing in which he threw 6 innings of shutout ball. The win gives the Evergreens a - advantage in the best-of- Round 1.
Adrián Gómez was the walk-off hero for Portland. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Evergreens catcher hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Mun told the Portland Citizen.
