Pivotal Game Goes to Host Voodoo, 6-5
New Orleans first baseman Orlando Velásquez was the key at The Voodoo Lounge today, being named player of the game as he powered the Voodoo to victory in a critical Game of the Third League Championship. The Voodoo took the 6-5 win over the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids to seize a - lead in the best-of- series.

Velásquez had a consequential at-bat in the bottom of the seventh for the Voodoo. Coming up with runners on 1st and 2nd and New Orleans trailing 5-4, he hit a 2-run double.

"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Voodoo manager Chase Sims. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
