The New Orleans Voodoo moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids on the road at Atlantica by a score of 2-1. Voodoo left-hander Fernando Padilla was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball. The win gives the Voodoo a - advantage in the best-of- Third League Championship.

In the top of the sixth inning, right fielder António Pérez came through big-time for the Voodoo. With New Orleans leading 1-0, he belted a solo home run.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Pérez told a New Orleans Times reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
