Almost There: Brooklyn On Cusp of R1 Triumph After 3-2 Win
|
The Brooklyn Dodgers needed some last-minute heroics to do it, but ultimately emerged one game away from the Round 2 today. The Dodgers got took the 3-2 win against the Chicago Gold Sox in a walk-off at Ebbetts Field. Brooklyn right fielder Manuel Carmona was named player of the game after he went 4-5 with a double and 3 singles. The win gives the Dodgers a - advantage in the best-of- Round 1.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, Carmona hit a changeup from Dan Crowder for a run-scoring single. The Dodgers, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Dodgers manager Erock Genova. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
