River Rats Bang Out 7-3 Win Versus South Beach
|
Columbia pitcher Marvin Wasmund did his part in helping his team beat the South Beach Blaze, 7-3. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Wasmund, the winner, moves to 2-2. He threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up no walks. The winning streak has now reached 5 games for the River Rats.
Jeffery Simpson, who is tied for 6th in the PA with a .478 slugging percentage, aided the Columbia cause with a 2-run double in the top of the third. For the game, the designated hitter was 2 for 4 with a double and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
Simpson told a Columbia Chronicle reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
