Guzzlers Need Extras to Top Tula
|
The Chicago Tula got a superb performance from pitcher Tex Fountas. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Galesburg. The Guzzlers won the game, 5-4. In spite of the loss, Fountas was named the player of the game. He threw 6 innings allowing 3 runs. Galesburg reliever Steve Wortley picked up the win, bumping his record to 2-2. Mark Morgan was collared with the loss. Galesburg currently is in 5th place in the Premier A at 51-45.
Late in the game, designated hitter Don Pokorski had a big at-bat for Galesburg. In the bottom of the 11th, he hit a run-scoring single off Mark Morgan. The play gave the Guzzlers a 5-4 lead.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Galesburg manager Rickey Burrell.
