Black Cats Edge Past Guzzlers, 5-4
|
Galesburg got a terrific performance from pitcher David Torres, but it wasn't enough to beat the Gwinnett County Black Cats. Gwinnett County won the Galesburg Field contest, 5-4. Torres was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball. Brian Guilbert, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 25th save. The Black Cats now have a mark of 52-41.
Eric Quick had a clutch at-bat with one out in the top of the ninth for the Black Cats. Coming up with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Gwinnett County trailing 4-3, he hit a 2-run double.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Gwinnett County manager Kenny Billings. "It's usually not just one thing."
