The Chicago Tula got a magnificent performance from pitcher Shaun Stroud, who muffled the Gwinnett County offense en route to a tight 2-1 Tula win at Pipers Ballpark. Stroud, now 1-3, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 1 earned run. Mark Morgan was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 18 of 22 save opportunities.

Maurício Calabaa drove in one run for Chicago. The 21-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the top of the sixth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring hit-by-pitch off Esteban Rodríguez. It was his 16th RBI of the season.

"We take it day by day here," said Calabaa, "and today was a good one for us."
