South Beach Blaze starter Tony Sánchez turned in an exceptional performance against the Phoenix Hotspur U-21 at Hotspur Kiddie Complex, resulting in a South Beach win, 3-2. South Beach reliever Wessel Rosas picked up the win, upping his record to 6-2. José Vásquez shouldered the loss. South Beach improves to 51-32 with the win. They lead their division by 3 games.
Had Barry Chambers not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 1st, Chambers hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Blaze.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Chambers told reporters after the game.
