Walleye Top River Rats, 3-1
|
The Walla Walla Walleye picked up a win at Walleye Tank, knocking off the Columbia River Rats, 3-1. Starting pitcher Greguorio Espora, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Espora, now 9-5, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing no earned runs. Walla Walla currently is in 7th place in the Premier A at 37-45.
The game was on the line with two out in the top of the ninth inning, but Ainanani Oliwa didn't flinch. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Columbia trailing 3-1, Oliwa retired Edgar Castaneda to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Oliwa, with a wink.
