Walleye Score Late to Upend Black Cats, 3-1
|
The Walla Walla Walleye got a good effort from starter Rafael González in defeating the Gwinnett County Black Cats at Walleye Tank. The final score was 3-1. Tom Warrawong earned the save for Walla Walla, his 3rd of the year. Walla Walla is now 33-43. Gwinnett County is 45-31.
Had Alejandro Blasco not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Blasco hit a 2-run double. That made the score 3-1, in favor of the Walleye.
Afterward, Walleye manager Rafael Clemente was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
