Chukars Come Up Short at Walla Walla
|
The Walla Walla Walleye did just enough to secure a 1-0 victory over the Idaho Falls Chukars at Walleye Tank. Nobody did more than pitcher Greg Fontenot, who captured player of the game honors. Fontenot got the win, improving to 3-7. He allowed 6 hits and walked 1 over 7.1 innings. Fontenot allowed no earned runs. Ainanani Oliwa picked up the save, his 12th.
Early in the game, first baseman Raúl Maradona had a run-scoring single for Walla Walla. It was his 83rd hit of the season and put the Walleye on top, 1-0.
"Feels good to get the job done," Fontenot said after the game.
Walla Walla now owns a record of 32-42.
