The Columbia River Rats got a strong performance from pitcher Giel Overwater, who stymied the Walla Walla offense en route to a 2-1 win at Columbia Stadium. Marvin Sidebottom converted his 9th save in 13 tries. At 24-43, Columbia is in last place in the Premier A.

The River Rats got a big at-bat from catcher Miguel Betancourt. For the game, Betancourt was 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Columbia a 2-1 lead.

"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Overwater told reporters after the game.
