Chukars Knock Off Reapers at Idaho Falls Park
|
The Grim Reapers got a superb performance from pitcher Cisco Pérez, but the Idaho Falls Chukars still won the game, 5-2. Pérez was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 5 innings of 3-hit ball. Reliever Simon Wolston picked up the win. His record improves to 2-2. Finley Berose took the loss. Albert Hernández got credit for the save for Idaho Falls. It was his 2nd of the year.
Had José Vargas not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Vargas hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Chukars.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Vargas.
Idaho Falls is now 25-42, while Grim is 38-29.
