Morishita Goes Wild, But Guzzlers Win
|
The Washington Generals got a superb performance from designated hitter Keizo Morishita. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Galesburg. The Guzzlers won the game, 6-5. In spite of the loss, Morishita was named the player of the game. He slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Galesburg reliever Bartolo Morales picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Bobby Ruegsegger absorbed the loss. The win puts the Guzzlers at 32-22, while the Generals drop to 28-26.
The game hit a turning point in the top of the fourth inning, when the Guzzlers were trailing 3-2. Louie Vipont delivered a two-out bases-clearing double for Galesburg, catapulting his team into the lead.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Vipont, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
