Black Cats Stymie Chicago, Take 3-1 Win
|
Peace Addo never let the Tula get in a groove. The left-hander used his bread and butter, his splitter, to pitch the Black Cats to a 3-1 win. The winning pitcher was Addo, now 5-0. He tossed 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 4. Brian Guilbert closed the game out for Gwinnett County, earning his 13th save.
The Black Cats got a big at-bat from first baseman Yi-ping Hor. For the game, Hor was 2-3 with 2 singles. In the bottom of the seventh, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 17th hit of the season gave Gwinnett County a 2-1 lead.
"Being able to contribute to a win is always a great feeling," Addo told the Gwinnett County Bulletin.
The Black Cats bumped their record to 24-11 with this latest triumph.
