Chukars Win at Washington, 7-4
|
Idaho Falls Chukars starter Albert Sierra pitched a strong game against the Washington Generals at Washington Park, leading the Chukars to a 7-4 win. The winning pitcher was Sierra, now 3-0. He tossed 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 7. Carlton Roberts earned the save for Idaho Falls, his 4th of the year.
The Chukars got a big at-bat from right fielder Falco Opsteegh. For the game, Opsteegh went 2-4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 3rd hit of the season gave Idaho Falls a 2-1 lead.
In postgame comments to the Idaho Falls Times, Opsteegh said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
Idaho Falls has now won 3 straight, while the Generals have lost 3 in a row.
