Thrilling Walk-Off Win for Blaze
|
The South Beach Blaze did just enough to secure a 4-3 victory over the Grim Reapers at The Ballpark on the Beach. Nobody did more than designated hitter Ricardo Elías, who captured player of the game honors. Wessel Rosas picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-1. Archie Hodges was tagged with the loss. South Beach, now 12-6, has gotten their season off to a good start.
Pablo Álvarez was the walk-off hero for South Beach. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Blaze catcher hit a dramatic run-scoring double to send the teams home.
In postgame comments to the South Beach Bulletin, Álvarez said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
