Black Cats Subdue Washington, 4-3
|
Washington got a terrific performance from pitcher Juan Carbajal, but it wasn't enough to beat the Gwinnett County Black Cats. Gwinnett County won the Pipers Ballpark contest, 4-3. Carbajal was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 5 innings of 4-hit ball. Gwinnett County reliever Javier Ibarra was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Dan Fletcher took the loss for Washington. Brian Guilbert got credit for the save for Gwinnett County. It was his 4th of the year.
A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and no one out in the bottom of the seventh inning. That's when pinch hitter Yi-ping Hor hit a single. The Black Cats went on to win.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Hor said.
The win gives Gwinnett County a record of 6-6.
