Guzzlers Subdue Columbia, 1-0
|
The Columbia River Rats wasted an inspired, 7-inning effort from starter Dave Haynes, falling 1-0 to the Galesburg Guzzlers at Columbia Stadium. Mark Zaugg earned the save for Galesburg, his 2nd of the year. The win leaves Galesburg with a record of 5-3.
Had Karl Wade not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Wade hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 1-0, in favor of the Guzzlers.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Wade told the Galesburg Today.
