Late Rally by Walleye Secures Win
|
Grim got a terrific performance from pitcher Manny Sandoval, but it wasn't enough to beat the Walla Walla Walleye. Walla Walla won the The Coffin contest, 3-2. Sandoval was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 8 innings of shutout ball. The Walleye, now 2-1, have played some good baseball in the early going.
Mo Eayrs made it 3-2 in favor of Walla Walla when he delivered a 3-run home run. It came with two out in the top of the ninth. The Walleye went on to win.
"If we keep winning the close games," Eayrs said, "we'll be in good shape at the end."
