BC Fall Short at Hammond
|
The Put-In-Bay BC and Hammond Herons provided some drama at The Heron Refuge.
The Herons faced a stiff challenge from Put-In-Bay pitcher Nate Jones, but persevered to claim a win at The Heron Refuge. The final score was 3-2. Jones went 6.2 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Hammond reliever Curt Wright got the win, raising his record to 3-3. Freddy Martínez was tagged with the loss.
Ju-wei Huang was the walk-off hero for Hammond. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Herons first baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"This wasn't a good win," said Huang. "It was a great win."
Even with the win, the Herons have a dismal 21-55 record.
