Cauldrons Turn Back Bellevue, 4-3
|
The Hogsmeade Cauldrons did just enough to secure a 4-3 victory over the Bellevue Bruins at Gators Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher Maximiano Mealha, who captured player of the game honors. Brian Peeks picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 5-1. Scott Morrison was tagged with the loss. The Bruins, now 36-35, have lost 4 in a row.
The Cauldrons got a big at-bat from first baseman Ewan Manshert. For the game, Manshert went 2-4 with a double. He drove in 3 runs. In the bottom of the eighth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 11th double of the season gave Hogsmeade a 4-3 lead.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Manshert told the Hogsmeade Chronicle.
