Syracuse and Hammond duked it out at The Heron Refuge and the Storm came out victorious.
Syracuse starter Zach Pinyerrel had a strong outing against the Hammond Herons at The Heron Refuge. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 4-1 win. Pinyerrel picked up the win for Syracuse, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 11-3.
A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the seventh inning when the Storm sent teenager Salvador Ramírez to the plate against Herons hurler Sun Kwan. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a single off a 0-2 fastball to score 2.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Pinyerrel said after the game.
Hammond's current losing streak is now 5 games.
