The Provo Mango got a good effort from starter Dennis Blanchard in defeating the Bellevue Bruins at Mango Yard. The final score was 4-2. Blanchard, now 7-4, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 9, walking 3, and allowing 2 earned runs. Provo is now 35-23, Bellevue 32-26.
Had Sun-jae Kwak not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Kwak hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Mango.
Bellevue manager José Vázquez said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
