Big Day by Monday Ignites Mango Win
|
The Provo Mango bested the Yellowknife Dragonblood by a score of 5-2, with second baseman Quindarious Monday getting the main credit. On the day, Monday went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2 for the Mango. Provo reliever Aatu Valkki picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Kazuchika Okada absorbed the loss. Harry Stogsdill locked down his 1st save.
Monday had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a full count slider from Kazuchika Okada, he banged a solo home run to left, giving the Mango a 3-2 lead. It was the 6th home run of the year for Monday.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Provo manager Francisco Fernández. "Our pregame was pretty good."
Provo is now 29-21. Yellowknife is 20-30.
