Provo got a terrific performance from pitcher Inaki Maira, but it wasn't enough to beat the Syracuse Storm. Syracuse won the Mango Yard contest, 7-6. Maira was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He came in in relief and pitched to 18 batters . Syracuse is now 31-17. Provo is 27-21.

In the top of the second, Sadakuno Hashimoto hit a 2-run single for Syracuse. The 26th hit of the season for the Syracuse second baseman put the Storm on top, 2-0.

"I like our moxie," said Storm manager Chad Hess.
