Bellevue Bruins starter Miguel Angel Martínez turned in a sterling performance against the Put-In-Bay BC, leading his team to a slim 2-1 win. Paco Salazar finished the game for Bellevue and earned his 9th save. Bellevue is now 19-21, Put-In-Bay 19-21.
Had Julián Valentín not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 1st, Valentín hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Bruins.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Bellevue manager José Vázquez. "Our pregame was pretty good."
