Hogsmeade Cauldrons starter Chris Hughes turned in a top-notch performance against the Hammond Herons at Gators Ballpark. The result was a win for the Cauldrons, 5-2. Hughes, now 4-3, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 0, and allowing no earned runs. Carlos Villegas closed the game out for Hogsmeade, earning his 1st save.
The Cauldrons got a big at-bat from designated hitter Manny López. For the game, López was 1 for 3 with a double. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 3rd double of the season gave Hogsmeade a 1-0 lead.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," López told the Hogsmeade Chronicle.
At 19-14, Hogsmeade is in second place in the Silver A.
