Middies Fall Short at Las Vegas
|
Mario Ramos did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Grafton Middies from losing, 6-5, to the Las Vegas Flamingos at The Strip. Ramos was 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The Flamingos, with just their 2nd win in 7 games, have played uninspired baseball so far.
Las Vegas won the game in the bottom of the ninth inning. With two outs and Lynwood Matos on the mound for Grafton, first baseman Sergio Ortíz hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Flamingos fans to their feet.
"Nice to get this one," said Ortíz. "Wins have been hard to come by."
