Mango Suffer 5-3 Loss to Herons
|
Despite a fine performance by shortstop Shihei Kichikawa, the Provo Mango suffered a 5-3 loss to the Hammond Herons. Kichikawa was 2 for 3 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The Herons have stumbled out of the gate, getting only their 5th win in 16 games.
Eugene, Oregon-born Russell Porter came through in the clutch. In the top of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd and the Herons trailing 2-1, he hit a 3-run home run to right-center to put Hammond on top.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Porter. "And not try to do too much."
