Great Day for Maroto in BC Win
|
The Put-In-Bay BC grabbed a 8-3 win over the Syracuse Storm at Put-In-Bay Ballpark. Put-In-Bay shortstop Álex Maroto was 4-5 with a double and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 to earn player of the game honors. Put-In-Bay reliever Kenko Nakano picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Cheung Lai was saddled with the loss. Tupac Blanch earned the save for Put-In-Bay, his 1st of the year.
The BC got a big at-bat from catcher Jorge Alvarado. For the game, Alvarado went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Put-In-Bay a 1-0 lead.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Alvarado. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
The Storm fall to 5-7 and continue their lackluster start to the 2031 season.
