Jewell Throws 5-Hitter En Route to 5-1 1787 BC Win
|
It was a fun time at Carrier Field, where the Hammond Herons and Delaware 1787 BC tangled.
John Jewell never let the Herons get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his splitter, to pitch the 1787 BC to a 5-1 win. Delaware, now 4-1, has played well in the early going.
Jewell was in the zone all game. He frustrated Hammond hitters while giving the 1787 BC 9 innings of quality work. Jewell threw 111 pitches, allowing 5 hits and getting 10 punchouts.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Jewell told reporters after the game.
