Mango Defeat Herons, 7-4

The 2031 season did not get off to quite the start the Hammond Herons had hoped, with an opening day loss to the Provo Mango at The Heron Refuge. The final score was 7-4. Starting Pitcher Dylan Telford was named player of the game for Provo.
Tom Haymon had a big 2-run single for the Mango in the top of the second inning. With Provo leading 3-2 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from Charlie Fairthorne and stroked the single to center. It was his 2nd hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Mango ahead, 5-2.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Haymon. "And not try to do too much."
