Evergreens Topple Divided with Late Rally
|
The Portland Evergreens bested the D.C. Divided by a score of 6-5, with center fielder Willie McGirt getting the main credit. On the day, McGirt went 2-5 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Evergreens. The hot start continues for the defending champion Evergreens, who took their 9th win in 11 games this year.
Portland took control in the top of the eighth. With no one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Chris Payling hit a run-scoring single to make it 6-5, Evergreens.
"We found a way to get it done," McGirt said.
