The Mt. Vernon Bulls got a superb performance from pitcher Tomás Apresentao, but the Kennesaw Jets still won the game, 6-5. Apresentao was named the player of the game despite the loss. He came in in relief and pitched to 18 batters . Mt. Vernon, at 34-40, has lost 10 straight.
Kennesaw won the game in the bottom of the 17th inning. With one out and Ramón Negrón on the mound for Mt. Vernon, third baseman Paul Wite hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Jets fans to their feet.
In postgame comments, Wite said, "I think we gave the fans their money's worth."
