Panama City withstood an impressive performance by D.C. first baseman Obidiah Lewis to defeat the Divided, 5-4, at Washington Stadium. Lewis went 1 for 3 with a double and 2 walks. Panama City reliever Michael Brown picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Iván Vázquez was saddled with the loss. Panama City, at 55-53, sits in third place in the Premier League.
The Piranhas got a big at-bat from first baseman Baldomero Avino. For the game, Avino went 1-5. In the top of the third, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 130th hit of the season gave Panama City a 2-1 lead.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," D.C. manager Jonathan Gerth said following the tough loss.
