The first-place Louisiana Dragoons welcomed Niagara Falls to Dragoons War Memorial Stadium.
The Louisiana Dragoons got a good effort from starter Bob Shepard in defeating the Niagara Falls Expos at Dragoons War Memorial Stadium. The final score was 3-1. Shepard, now 5-2, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing no earned runs. Jong-yun Chong got credit for the save for Louisiana. It was his 3rd of the year.
The Dragoons had to work out of trouble in the top of the sixth. The score was 3-0, Louisiana, with one out. Niagara Falls, with runners on 1st and 3rd, was mounting a threat. Sébastien Cornu dug in at the plate, but on a first pitch fastball, he hit into a double play.
